STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF U.S. CONGRESSMAN JOHN LEWIS

U.S. Congressman John Lewis’ transition from labor to a much deserved reward completed an iconic triune of civil rights personalities’ departure from time to eternity. Joseph Lowery left in March of this year and Cordy T. Vivian waited on the banks of the river to connect with John Lewis on yesterday. Among the three, John Lewis, was the only one to rise from the civil unrest of the sixties to serve as an elected official on a national platform. His leadership in Congress was stellar and his ubiquitous influence impacted us all. We are grateful for Congressman John Lewis' life, labor and legacy of "Good Trouble."
